Suffolk Juniors ESHL team makes a statement with a 2 game sweep against the Philadelphia Revolution
Warwick- Saturday September 8th was the season opener for the Suffolk Juniors ESHL team. With high expectations of competing for the ESHL championship Coach John Agliato had his team ready to play. Suffolk stormed into the Warwick Arena looking to send a message to the rest of the league and after this weekend’s performance the league will surely take notice.
The season scoring was opened by Anthony Modica who scored the first two Suffolk goals of the campaign. Modica finished the game with three points but he was not to be out done as Alex Posillico also had three points (one goal, two assists. Suffolk had a 3-0 lead but Philadelphia would not go quietly as they scored 2 of the games next 3 goals to cut Suffolk’s lead to 4-2. But goals by Michael Gioia, Michael Vaiano and Alex Posillico were able to secure the Juniors 1st win of the season behind goaltender Nolan Egberts 21 save performance.
In Sundays game the boys got off and running at the Warwick Arena scoring just 39 seconds into the game. From there Suffolk went on a scoring rampage scoring 12 of the games 13 goals. Goaltender Eric Tatarian got his first win of the season some would say pretty easily only having to make 19 saves. He received tons of scoring help to relieve any butterflies hen had about making his first start of the season. Daniel Lore had a 7 point game with 3 goals and 4 assists tying him with Nicholas Mangone for the early team lead and league in points. Nicholas Mangone also had a hat trick in the 12-1 rout he finished with 5 points in the game. The offense overwhelmed the Philadelphia Revolution all weekend scoring 19 goals in two games.
Suffolk Juniors ESHL next game is Sunday September 16th against the Jersey Wildcats at A.spen Ice in Randolph NJ at 11:00am
